Story-Driven City Exploration in Expanded Realities - Trailer & Demo

Description

Drawing on the title „Story Driven City Exploration in Expanded Reality“, this master’s thesis discusses a new approach to immersive, holistic, and gamified experiences. We conducted research and combined various areas such as storytelling and narrative strategies, dioramas, personalization, experience design, sound design, and new technologies – specifically Expanded Reality (ER) – in a transmedia project on mobile platforms such as smartphones to create distinctive experiences.

Enhance cities with memorable experiences.

We want users to get to know a city fully immersed and in a holistic way by helping them experience unique moments, expanding users‘ perspectives
and giving added value to specific places.

By creating a story-based experience about art and history, we want to take city tours to a whole new level by interacting with the city itself. In order
to achieve this, we use augmented reality to increase fun, excitement and turn the city into a Discovery Space on special landmarks.

Hola Lens - Spanish in Augmented Reality

Description

A playful language learning environment. Through interaction with the entire environment and the placed objects, the user learns Spanish through the combination of different senses.

The user wants to learn Spanish easily – Home is a familiar and close environment – It’s where you recover and possibly reflect on yourself or think about your day.

Our project will provide the user with an immersive and memorable learning experience.

We want to create a playful language learning environment. By interacting with the whole surroundings and placed objects, the user will learn a language by combining different senses. Our application could work with several languages but in our case we decided to let you learn Spanish.

Internet of Things - Ambient Intelligence

WeCare - Internet of things

wecare improves the quality of care. It creates a communication bridge between residents and caregivers and automatically documents processes that are part of their daily routine. Furthermore, with the wecare quality seal, we ensure that the time saved actually benefits the residents.

We want to increase the quality and care. We want to place interpersonal relationships in the foreground.

We will enhance the quality of care by creating a bridge of communication between caregivers and residents. We will reduce the amount of documentations and ensure that the time gained is invested in real care.

We are developing an extensible nursing home system that will automate part of the documentation and clarify residents conditions. Through the care certification we will also carry the attention outwards.

NOOK - Ambient Intelligent

NOOK consists of two components: a guidance system (Grid Unit) and a room-divider system (Divider). The Grid Unit incorporates a lighting concept as well as features for identifying disruptive sources of noise. It also provides visual feedback, allowing NOOK to draw attention to acoustic disturbances and demonstrate the technological basis of gesture recognition.

Work without distraction. Everywhere.

Help people in open workspace to create an awareness of a pleasant work environment, so everyone can do a better and more stress-free work.

Simulations

Bioflow - Simulation

The project is a simulation of predator-prey populations for children.

2 months later…
„… we want to unconsciously teach students and children the biological knowledge through interaction with friends and fun …, The pupil should be actively involved and make changes for themselves …“

Fun is a big part of our vision and mission.
How can we bring forth fun? It should not be a boring textbook application, with lots of data and graphics. We want to teach and entertain our target audience through fun and gamification.

We give the users the power to adjust the parameters themselves and thereby influence the development itself.
